The fine print, minus the fog
Privacy Policy
The short version: this site uses no analytics, no trackers, and no cookies. The only personal data you can choose to send through this website is an email address so we can tell you when the Android and iOS versions launch. Browser voice streaming is a separate, optional game feature described below.
Effective August 14, 2026
What we collect
Launch notifications. When you use the “Get notified when it comes to mobile” form, it submits your email address to Formspree, Inc., which delivers it to our inbox. See Formspree’s privacy policy. We keep that address to send one email when the Android and iOS versions launch. There is no newsletter or follow-up marketing.
Messages you send us. If you email our general, press, or educator addresses, we receive the address and name you use, your message, and any attachment or other information you choose to include. Those aliases forward to our mailbox. Our email forwarding and mailbox providers process the message so it can reach us and so we can reply. We keep correspondence only as long as needed for the inquiry, our records, or applicable legal obligations.
No behavioral tracking. We run no analytics scripts, set no cookies, and load no third-party trackers. Fonts, images, and the trailer are served from our own domain. The launch-notify form passes your email to Formspree. If Formspree presents a Google reCAPTCHA spam check, it runs on Formspree’s page rather than this site.
One technical note for completeness: the site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may process standard technical data (such as IP addresses) in its server logs to serve and secure the site. That data goes to GitHub as our host; we do not see or use it. See GitHub’s privacy statement for details.
What the game collects
AI Guardians runs on your own device (or in your browser), and it stores your saves and settings there. Playing the game requires no account and no sign-up. The currently available browser and desktop editions contain no advertising or analytics. Android and iOS releases are planned, and their privacy disclosures will be checked against the final signed binaries before publication. If you get the game through a distribution platform such as itch.io, Google Play, the Apple App Store, or the Microsoft Store, that platform’s own privacy policy applies to your use of it.
Optional browser voices. The browser edition asks before it streams character voices from speech.aiguardians.games. If you choose streamed voices, your browser requests individual audio files from that project-managed speech host. Like an ordinary web request, the host may process your IP address, request time, browser details, and the requested filename to deliver and secure the file. Voice filenames are tied to dialogue identifiers, so a filename can indicate the scene or story path you have reached. AI Guardians adds no account identifier or save data to these requests. Choose “Play without streamed voices” at the prompt, or turn voices off under Options, Audio, to prevent these requests. Desktop editions package voices locally and do not use this speech host.
What we do with contact information
- We use launch-list addresses to send one Android and iOS launch notice.
- We use direct messages and attachments to understand and answer the inquiry you sent.
- We never sell contact information or share it for another organization’s marketing.
- Formspree, our email forwarding and mailbox providers, and any provider needed to deliver our reply process contact information on our behalf.
- We delete information on a valid request unless we need to retain it for an overriding legal reason. Launch-list addresses no longer have a purpose after the launch notice is sent.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Applicable law may provide additional rights or exceptions. The information may include a launch-list address or correspondence you sent us.
To exercise any of these, email hello@aiguardians.games and we’ll take care of it.
Children
AI Guardians is written for older teens and up, and this website is aimed at the same audience, including teachers. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child sent us information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, for example if we add a proper sign-up service for the launch list, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. The commitment stays the same: collect as little as possible, use it only for what you asked for.
